Initially, we envisioned a Fitbit made for the elderly which would have the usual heart rate sensors, steps tracker, calorie counter and GPS tracker. But the main features taking center-stage would be the Fitbit's integration with SCDF's myResponder mobile application for elderly's safety and socializing platform designed mainly for the elderly which we called SilverBook. Moreover, we wanted the user experience so be as smooth as possible, so we envisioned bigger fonts, voice-activation and call services. However, through our conversations with our users, we realised that the main purpose of a Fitbit, which is to track one's fitness, did not resonate well with the elderly. They also preferred more old-school watch aesthetics, such as chain or leather straps and analogue watch. Thus, we changed our direction to create a smartwatch that would look like an analogue watch but would have enough smart features to give caregiver's a piece of mind and satisfy its main users, the elderly.
