Feedback

With some product ideas and features in mind, we went down to survey people in general about Fitbit, their health and exercise routine. Simultaneously, we tried to validate our product ideas by suggesting different features of a hypothetical smartwatch to the elderly and noting their responses. Below are the findings.

User Feedback: Testimonials

"I do not need a fitness tracker, it is okay, I am aware and healthy enough, I exercise on my own 3 times a week. "

Many are reluctant to use a technology, especially something like a Fitibt, which they haven't heard of before, much less use.

"No, no digital. I prefer this kind (analoge watch). I can see time clearly."

Many elderly prefer analogue wristwatch since they are more familiar with it.

"No need GPS, I can ask around. Plus I go to this area often, I am very familiar."

The elderly do not venture out often thus GPS feature for personal use may not be so useful. However, it will benefit caretakers to keep track of their elderly.

"I cannot see the watch when it is dark. When it is the dark, I have to go under light to see."

They do not event know about light feature or glow in the dark fonts. This shows that the simplest of the design appeals to them.

"Singapore suddenly rain, good good to have weather forecast but must be very easy to use."

Usability of the watch is the key. It as to be simple yet effective. It also should not have too many buttons.

Summary of feedback:

  • Many were against a digital clock

  • Integration with myResponder App received good feedback

  • Heart rate sensor was also popular

  • Men prefer metal belts whereas women preferred thin leather belts

  • The call feature was not well receive

  • Many did not like the idea of rechargeable battery because it was too troublesome

  • Many prefer it water-proof

  • Most people are willing to pay below $50 for such a watch

Keeping in mind all the features that were well-received and those that were not well-liked, we designed a smartwatch for the elderly, called E-Bit.
